Division 02 (Erosion) primed this project in eastern Iowa near Burlington. It consisted of seeding a wetland, planting 1,500 trees, and mowing the 20 acre site for 2-3 years. Each dot in the image represents a tree planting. Crews from Granger and Urbana teamed up to first stake out the trees and plant them to spec. which included weed barrier fabric, mulch, tree guards, and stakes. No easy task but our team came together to finish this project in a matter of days.
Check out episode 002 of No Excuses to hear Jeremy Krayenhagen and Ryan Bright give more details.

Mowing
Removing an old combine from the site
-
This project called for roughly 10 different tree species in two sizes over 20 acres. Each tree came with exact coordinates for planting. In order to stake out 1,500 trees the team would have to use new tools.
It was also no easy task removing the old combine from the site. Luckily the trucking division was able to help out and make quick work of the task.

In order to stake out 1,500 trees in exact locations, the team had to call in support from the GIS team. They were able to load all the coordinates onto special software that would allow a GPS rover to stake out each individual tree location.

Teams from the Granger and Urbana offices came together on-site to ensure trees were correctly staked-out and planted to specs. The team called on Jacob Hein and Nathan Miner to help with the GPS aspect of the project. Ryan Bright and Jeremy Krayenhagen were able to pick up new skills with the GPS rovers and complete the tree stake-outs in just two days. Shoutout to the Trucking division as well for helping remove the combine.
